Here’s Why the Anti-Mold Mat is a Game Changer for Your Fridge

Keeping vegetables and fruits fresh for an extended period can seem challenging, but there are some effective methods that can help us.

  • The “bouquet” method
Greens tend to wilt quickly, losing nutrients and freshness.
What can we do about it?
Place greens with long stems in a glass with a little water, like a bouquet of flowers. You can use this method for parsley, green onions, cilantro, dill, or even lettuce. If the lettuce has roots, place water in a bowl and put the lettuce in the bowl.
The greens can be stored this way in the fridge and will last longer.
  • When storing fruits and vegetables, use the lower drawers and shelves of the fridge. That area is usually less cold and has a higher humidity level, which is ideal for many fruits and vegetables.
  • Before placing fruits and vegetables in the drawers, lay an anti-mold mat for the fridge. Thanks to its spongy structure, the anti-mold mat allows better air circulation around the food, keeping them fresh for a longer time.
  • For vegetables like celery and asparagus, wrap the stems in aluminum foil and store them in the fridge. This prevents drying, spoilage, or odor absorption, and keeps the stems fresh and crisp.
  • If you store fruits or vegetables in bags before putting them in the fridge, make sure there is no moisture inside the bags, and leave them open for air circulation.
